Dr. Chen applies traditional and modern statistical methods to biomedical research and clinical studies.

Research

With a diverse background spanning biomedical and biostatistical research, my work lies in exploring the application of biostatistics related to both laboratory and clinical research. I collaborate with experts in Hematology-Oncology, Prostate Cancer, Lung Cancer, Breast Cancer, Pathology, Pharmacology, Pediatrics, and Alzheimer’s Disease. The expertise of my team encompasses experimental design, biomarker discovery from high-dimensional genomic data, correlative clinical studies, research involving laboratory animals, and early clinical trials. 

 

Currently, we are deeply engaged in multiple NIH grants, where I serve as a co-investigator and biostatistician. Additionally, I hold the role of co-director for the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Core within the Specialized Center of Research (SCOR) grant funded by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). I also co-direct the Biostatistics core for an NIH P01 center grant focused on Mantle Cell Lymphoma. At WCM, I contribute to crucial decision-making processes as a member of multiple Disease Management Teams (DMT) of the Cancer Center, the Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee (PRMC) and the Data Safety Monitoring Committee (DSMC). 

 

My commitment extends to education, where I actively participate in teaching and serve as the course director for two courses in the Biostatistics and Data Science graduate program.

Bio

Dr. Chen earned his PhD in cancer molecular biology from Xiamen University, China, and later pursued an MPH in biostatistics from the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medicine in 2011 as a Biostatistician, he conducted research on molecular signal transduction in cancer at the National University of Singapore (NUS, Singapore), H Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida, and Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit. He joined the faculty of Population Health Sciences in 2016.
