January Interviews

Information for January 27th:

Interview Evaluation Survey
The Interview process at Weill Cornell evolves from year to year. We try to make the interviews and your visit to our campus the best experience it can be. As such, we like to follow up with you and seek your input to help improve the process for next year. We have created a survey to ask for your feedback. If you could take 5 minutes to fill out the survey, we would greatly appreciate it. All responses are completely anonymous and will in no way impact our decisions.

The survey can be found here: Take Survey

Reimbursement Forms
You may request reimbursement for travel associated with your visit to Weill Cornell Graduate School (WCGS). This includes transportation not provided by WCGS, such as airport transportation, shuttles, taxies, and personal vehicles, as well as meals necessary during your travel to/from NYC.

All of our admissions decisions for interviewees from our first interview date are expected to go out on Thursday, Jan. 30th. As there were quite a few of you interviewing this week, please allow us time to send your decision out on the 30th. If you have not received an email with your decision by 4pm, please contact our offices and we will be able to help you directly. All decisions will go out by email.

Information for January 22nd:

WCGS welcomes all PhD applicants for the January session of interviews. See here for the up to date schedule.

Attire

Dress during the interviews is business casual. Dress pants or skirt, button down shirt, sweater or blouse is the typical attire we see our interviewees wearing. Also, keep in mind, the average temp during January in NYC is 32° degrees (0° c) during the day and 27° (-3°c) after the sunsets. Please make sure to bring warm clothes and appropriate shoes for winter.

Transportation

We highly recommend taking a cab or service like Via, Lyft or Uber to get to and from your arrival/departure points in NYC. Make sure to keep your receipts and we will provide you with forms to be reimbursed for your travel during your stay.

From LGA to the Upper East Side, a yellow cab should cost around $35
From JFK to the Upper East Side, a yellow cab should cost around $60
From EWR to the Upper East Side, a yellow cab should cost around $75

Wednesday Start

We have been working with Altour, our travel partner, to help book all of your flights and ensure that you arrive with time to spare. Upon your arrival, we recommend that you visit the Bentley Hotel to drop off your bag (check-in starts at 3pm, but you will be able to leave your bag prior to then). No matter when you arrive, please make sure to stop at the hotel to drop your bag off or check-in prior to heading to the Graduate School Check-in.

For students arriving before 2:30pm: There will be a Graduate School Check-in and Lounge area set up with current students, refreshments and games in Lasdon House, 5th floor (420 East 70th Street).

For students arriving after 2:30pm: Check-in will be at the Graduate School Poster Session located in the Belfer Research Building, 2nd Floor (413 East 69th Street).

There will be student escorts at the Bentley Hotel to walk you between the hotel and the Graduate School Check-ins. The last group of students will head over from the Bentley to the Welcome in Zuckerman at 5:00pm

Friday Lunch

After sessions complete on Friday afternoon, there will be two optional lunches you will have the opportunity to attend. The first lunch will be an informal lunch with some of our current students, fostering an opportunity to have any final questions about the program answered.

The second lunch will be hosted by the Office of Student Diversity; offering candidates the opportunity to discuss how we are cultivating a diverse and inclusive community as one of our top priorities across our campus. At the lunch you will have the opportunity to better engage with our Office of Student Diversity and members of the Tri-I Minority Society (TIMS), one of many active student groups on campus. Please RSVP here if you would like to attend!

Meals

We will be feeding you during your stay, this includes dinner Wednesday night, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Thursday and breakfast and lunch on Friday. There will also be snacks throughout the day. Many of you have informed us of dietary restrictions and we will take all of those into account while planning our meals. Unfortunately we cannot reimburse for meals purchased during your travel to and from Weill Cornell.
