MAINTAINING F-1 STATUS

Important Guidelines to Maintain Lawful F-1 Status

As an international student on an F-1 visa, it is important that you understand and comply with immigration regulations to avoid problems that can interfere with your studies. It is the responsibility of each student to stay informed and maintain lawful F-1 status during your stay in the United States. A violation of the immigration regulations could jeopardize your F-1 status, and lead to stoppage of your Weill Cornell stipend.

STUDENT CHECK-IN

All F-1 international students who are returning WCM students, have an initial I-20, or are SEVIS transfer students must complete the online check-in procedure in accordance with the instructions provided in your email from the Office of International Student Services. International students who are entering the United States for the first time on an F-1 visa are only permitted to enter the U.S. up to 30 days prior to the "program start date" on your I-20.
