The major goal of our research is to understand how the number of an important cellular organelle — the centrosome — is maintained during cell division and development. The centrosome is the main organizer of the microtubule cytoskeleton, exerting spatial and temporal regulation over the formation of microtubule polymers. The centrosome has profound effects on mitotic spindle formation; therefore, regulation of centrosome duplication is fundamental to genome stability.
