Erika Abramson

Professor
Erika Abramson
My health services research has focused on adoption and use of health information technology, while my educational research has focused on educational efforts to improve scholarly training for trainees.

Research

My health services research work has focused on the adoption and use of health information technology in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.  These interventions include electronic prescribing, electronic health records, health information exchange, and personal health records.  I have been involved in several federally funded projects designed to help health systems identify and predict patients with high needs and high cost and improve the care given to this population.  In recent years, I have transitioned my health services and health equity research work to a more senior advisory role, guiding trainees and junior faculty in their health services research projects.

I have also led multiple large-scale national educational research studiesThe primary focus of this research has been how to best support trainees in scholarly activity during their training yearsThese studies have been conducted using national educational research network infrastructure including the Association of Pediatric Program Directors (APPD) Research and Scholarship Learning Community, APPD LEARN, and the Subspecialty Pediatric Investigators NetworkI have also published several peer-reviewed curricula that have been downloaded hundreds of times on this topic, as well as perspective pieces on mentoring and how to conduct rigorous educational education research.
