Weill Cornell Medicine, the medical school at Cornell University, invites applicants for the position of Dean of the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences (WCGS), a premiere institution of biomedical research and education.  The WCGS Dean reports to the Dean of Weill Cornell Medicine, who is also Provost for Medical Affairs of Cornell University, and serves on his senior leadership team.  The WCGS Dean is a member of the Weill Cornell Medicine Board of Overseers and the Cornell University Board of Trustees, which is responsible for the general supervision of institutional programs and operations.

The Weill Cornell Graduate School (WCGS) is an educational partnership between Weill Cornell Medicine and the Sloan Kettering Institute (SKI), and it offers PhD degrees in seven programs of study and MS degrees in six programs in the biomedical sciences. Nearly 350 faculty members with common interests in graduate education and foundational biological and biomedical scientific research are appointed to the graduate school faculty. The Dean of WCGS is responsible for developing academic programs, setting educational standards and policies, allocating resources, and attracting and supporting a talented and diverse body of students.

Weill Cornell Medicine seeks a WCGS Dean who will innovate and provide visionary leadership as the institution embarks on a new strategic plan and continues to optimize the learning experience while training the next generation of scientific investigators. The WCGS Dean will foster collaborations with Cornell Tech in New York City, Cornell University in Ithaca, Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar, and other affiliated and neighboring educational and research institutions in New York City, and across the world.

The successful candidate will be a nationally renowned biomedical researcher and dedicated educator, who will work collaboratively with WCGS and SKI institutional leadership, faculty, and administrators across disciplines and units. Academic qualifications and scholarly accomplishments must merit appointment to the rank of professor with tenure at Weill Cornell Medicine. Demonstrated administrative expertise in a research university, excellent managerial and communication skills, and a proven commitment to diversity and inclusion are key requirements.
