Bachelor’s degree in the quantitative sciences – computer science, data science, engineering, applied mathematics – or biology-related majors with substantial coursework in quantitative sciences, applied mathematics and computer programming.

The 18-month Master of Science in Computational Biology (MS-CB) equips students with both theoretical understanding and practical mastery of computational approaches – machine learning, data science, quantitative genomics, bioinformatics, systems biology, and more – and their applications in biology and medicine. With a nearly 1:2 student-to-faculty ratio, students learn directly from world-class experts in computational biology research from Weill Cornell Medicine and Sloan-Kettering Institute. 

A cornerstone of the program is the thesis project. Students complete a thesis with a faculty mentor whose research interests align closely with their own. Drawing on the expertise of faculty spanning a wide range of research areas and computational approaches, students pursue original research while gaining substantial experience and proven ability to drive an independent research project.
